Reading Comprehension
- The questions are of three varieties: Fact-based, Inference-based, & Vocabulary-based.
- The RC part of CAT 2021 has way more inference-based questions than CAT 2020, making it much more challenging.
- The fact-based questions demand answers based on facts mentioned in the passage. They are the easiest questions in this section.
- The Inference-based questions are trickier since the aspirant has to deduce the tone and theme of the author before answering these questions.
Jumbled Paragraphs
- There is no option for error as these are TITA-based questions.
- In these questions, 4-5 phrases are presented in sequence.
- Such sentences are paragraphs, and the candidate has to locate the correct sentences.
- The candidate should be able to find the first sentence and last sentence of the paragraph.
- It is straightforward because the initial line gives a subject and the last line gives a verdict or conclusion.
- Then, the first phrase must be in a contiguous flow, and so on.
Odd Sentence in Paragraph Jumbles
- These questions have also been TITA-based.
- Which sentence is correct, should come to know the candidates.
- These can be either simple or complex sentences.
- A new topic can also be brought forward but will not be elaborated later as well
DILR Section
This test DILR section follows up in two subsections which are: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning

- This section comprises numbers and sequences, arrangements, syllogisms, logical sequences, blood connections, calendars, cubes, and clocks.
- Questions are generally the culmination of many topics.
- There are plenty of topics in the reasoning section and the amalgamation can result in pretty complex sets.
- The main problem with solving questions in the LR section is to solve them as fast as possible.
QA Section
QA is the last component of the CAT exam. This section is divided into three sections. Most of the preparation is done for the QA section, which requires vast practice.
